Coaches Code of Conduct

The essence of good ethical conduct and practice is summarised below. All coaches must ensure:

  • The well-being of the children both physical and mental health must are the first priority
  • The participation and practice of judo and it's understanding take priority over the development of performance of a player
  • Develop an appropriate working relationship with players based on mutual trust and respect
  • Make sure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability and experience of those taking part
  • Promote the positive aspects of judo (e.g. the Judo Code)
  • Display consistently high standards of behaviour and appearance
  • Follow all guidelines laid down by the national governing body and the club
  • Hold the appropriate, valid qualification
  • Never condone rule violation or behaviour that disrupts the learning and enjoyment of others
  • Encourage performers to value their performances and participation over results
  • Listen and act appropriately should a child voice or display signs of unusual behaviour
